Garmo Scholarship
The Garmo Scholarship Fund is a merit-based scholarship opportunity for young adults which will provide up to 100% of the necessary funding for one young adult to spend a year in Israel. Applicants must plan to spend the year in Israel studying at a secular institution that is part of any undergraduate or graduate degree program. There is no age limit, and the successful applicant may apply for a second year of funding upon completion of one year of study.
Applicants should apply through the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle by January 31, 2010, and will be considered for the Garmo Scholarship as well as for funding through the Federation. Applications can be found at www.JewishInSeattle.org/Israel (click on the "scholarship" link at the left-hand column).
If you have any questions, contact Rachel Schachter, Israel Programs Manager at the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle.
Berol-Shindell Scholarship
Each year Hillel awards a number of scholarships through the Berol-Shindell scholarship fund in order to help students attending the University of Washington pay for tuition. Scholarships are awarded annually and based entirely on financial need. The scholarship was established by the late Joseph J. Berol and Ruth and Milton Shindell to assist undergraduate Jewish students who might not otherwise be able to afford to attend the University of Washington.
Eligibility: Applicants must be continuing at the University of Washington for the 2010-2011 academic year or have been accepted for the 2010-2011 academic year.
Deadline: Applications must be postmarked by May 1st, 2010 in order to be considered. Late and incomplete applications will not be considered.
Requested Documentation: Applications must be complete with all tax forms and schedules (or proper documentation as to why taxes weren't filed) or they will not be considered. Make sure all requested documentation is submitted before the May 1st deadline, otherwise your application will not be considered.
