Jeremy comes to Washington after 36 years in Hillel including 23 as the director at the University of Pennsylvania. He is tremendously excited about working with students and the university community at UW. He is an avid hiker, swimmer and bicyclist and is looking forward to exploring the Seattle area. He has traveled extensively and has led many student trips to Israel as well as to Germany, Russia (when it was the USSR!), New Orleans, the Deep South and was a State Department representative to an interfaith conference in Bosnia. Jeremy is married to Rabbi Reena Spicehandler and they have two children.

Jacob's path to the rabbinate was driven by a desire to be able to integrate the things about which he is most passionate—Judaism and spiritual development, education, community building, the natural world and social justice. Jacob has worked as an educator for a host of Jewish environmental organizations including Teva, Adamah and Hazon and has been involved with organic gardening and farming over the last decade. Jacob’s hometown is Amherst, Massachusetts and prior to moving to Seattle, he lived in New York, Israel and LA. Jacob lives in Ravenna with his wife Julie, who is an organic farmer and farming educator.

Dan Bridge was a Hillel student at the University of Washington from 1971-1976. In 1988, he returned as the Hillel rabbi and he's been around ever since. One son, Jake, has also returned to the Seattle area, while the second, Zach, is a student at UC Santa Cruz.

Sara Engesser graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in International Studies and a minor in Jewish Studies. She spent three years in Los Angeles at USC Hillel but always dreamed of moving back and working for Hillel UW. She is thrilled to be back on campus and is loving life in Seattle. Sara loves animals (especially her two dogs Meshugana and Stout), scrapbooking, camping, Husky football, traveling and all things food related!

Josh Furman is a graduate from the University of Washington Business School. During his undergrad Josh was active on campus, and attended an Alternative Spring Break wityh Hillel as well as various other programs. When Josh finished school, we couldn’t get rid of him, but we are glad to have him on staff. Raised in Oregon, Josh is a true northwesterner. Josh is a big fan of made-for-tv movies, loves cooking, and is known for being a bargain shopper.

Robert arrives at Hillel with a wide range of past experience in community service, political organizing, student activism, and Jewish organizational involvement. He holds degrees in computer science and creative writing, as well as certifications in independent media production, multimedia design, and advanced international affairs. Music is also one of his passions, and Robert records and performs in the Northwest with his band Fall City Shakedown.

Betsy is a social worker who has been in practice since 1980, after graduating for the school of social work in Ann Arbor Michigan and coming back to her hometown of Seattle. She began the counseling program at Hillel in January, 2001, and divides her time between working at Hillel and her private practice. She is very proud that Hillel at the UW is still the only Hillel that offers counseling on site, and loves her job! Galit Ezekiel brings over ten years of development experience to her position. She has worked for a variety of nonprofit organizations in the greater Seattle area including United Way, Seattle Repertory Theatre and Eastside Domestic Violence Program. Prior to her nonprofit career, she worked in the corporate sector as a recruiter and buyer. Galit holds a BA in Business Administration from the UW where she was an active Hillel member. When she's not busy raising funds for Hillel, Galit enjoys spending time with her family and traveling.

Kris began working at Hillel UW over 16 years ago, and since there’s always work to do, she’s still here! She was the Hillel Office Manager from 1991-1997 and returned to coordinate the Capital Campaign from 1999-2004. Since the opening of the new building she has been working with Galit on annual fundraising and stepping in to help coordinate major Hillel programs like High Holidays and Passover. Working part time at Hillel is the perfect job for Kris because she gets to work in a great environment and still have lots of time for her family, volunteer projects and getting outdoors.

Jill McAdams has been in charge of the office at Hillel at the University of Washington for 8 years now. She holds a bachelor's degree in Business/Real Estate from Colorado State University and completed the Nonprofit Management Certificate Program at the University of Washington in 2001. Jill is an avid volleyball player, and loves to hike and explore the outdoors of the Pacific Northwest. She and her husband recently had their first child, Simeon. She now works for Hillel part-time sharing the Hillel office manager/administrator position with Kathy Kripps.

Kathy is job sharing with Jill McAdams as Office Manager / Administrator. She grew up in Wisconsin and graduated from Marquette University with a degree in Medical Technology. She moved to Seattle in 1976 and worked in a variety of laboratory jobs which included being Laboratory Manager for Children’s Hospital. In 1993 she “retired” to stay home with her two daughters and just returned to the work force in 2006. While home, Kathy volunteered as a classroom parent, ran a tutoring program, coordinated volunteers and was involved with various PTAs.

Silver grew up in Ohio and moved to Seattle in 2009 after living in Memphis for three years. She has an Associate's Degree in Visual Communications from Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio and a BA in Film and Video Production from The University of Memphis in Memphis, Tennessee. Her hobbies include painting, video games, traveling and watching movies. Silver enjoys being at Hillel’s front desk, helping the staff with various projects, answering the phones and getting to greet people as they come into the building.

Anna was born in Russia, but grew up in the Seattle area and has a BA in Communications as well as in Russian Language and Literature from the University of Washington. She was Hillel’s Undergraduate President in 1993-94 and after spending 10 years as a Project Manager for several companies in New York City, she returned to her hometown and just couldn’t stay away from Hillel and their gorgeous new building. When she’s not busy making sure the building rentals are running smoothly or making sure Hillel's website is up to date, she enjoys traveling, giving Feng Shui consultations, teaching and practicing yoga and most of all, spending time with her husband and two kids, Zoe and Maxim.

Hannah grew up in the Boston area (go Red Sox!). She has a BA in Psychology from UCLA and an MSW from USC. She and her husband, Bob, moved to Seattle from Los Angeles in 1992. Hannah continued working as a social worker in foster care and adoption until her two sons, Sam and Isaac, were born. At that point she became a stay-at-home mom and her passion for cooking took off. After years of avid home cooking and food exploration, Hannah joined Hillel in 2005. When not in Hillel's amazing kitchen, Hannah enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
