10:00am to 1:00pmJoin Jconnect and FareStart in helping prepare 1200 meals for those fighting homelessness this Sukkot!
FareStart is a local nonprofit founded by chefs in 1987 to end homelessness. They built their organization on three beliefs. That food is central to our emotional, physical, and economic well-being. That people have incredible capacity to transform their lives when they have the right tools and support. And solutions that provide real value to a community have the best hope of lasting. They put these beliefs into action in two ways. First, they prepare meals for homeless shelters throughout King County, meals which JConnect volunteers will help to cook. Second, they provide culinary job training, teaching youth and adults struggling with homelessness the culinary and vocational skills to succeed in the fast paced food industry. JConnect volunteers will work alongside these students.
Jconnect volunteers will not only get to help feed homeless people throughout the county and meet the highly talented cooks in FareStart's program. They will also get to explore the inner workings of a full professional kitchen and learn knife and other culinary skills.
Also, lunch will be provided! We hope you can join us!
Space is limited for volunteers, so please RSVP to elana@hilleluw.org!
