An Evening with Ari Shavit – The Elusive Dream of a Peaceful Two-State Solution

Monday, May 04

7:00pm to 9:00pm
Hillel UW
4745 17th Ave NE
Seattle WA 98105

Join us for an evening with famed Israeli journalist and New York Times bestselling author Ari Shavit on Monday, May 4, at Hillel UW.  Shavit will be visiting us as part of his yearlong speaking tour of US and Canadian colleges and promises to bring a unique and compelling perspective on current issues and challenges facing Israel and the Middle East.

Shavit is known as one of Israel’s foremost social and political commentators for his work as a columnist and editorial board member for Haaretz. Through his writing he hopes to create an open dialogue about Israel and the Middle East by presenting his personal outlook on the past, present, and future of the country and region. The themes discussed relate strongly to Shavit’s recent bestseller My Promised Land: The Triumph and Tragedy of Israel. His book has been praised for its honest, passionate narrative that examines the state of Israel with true complexity and personal immediacy. His keynote address will focus on Zionism, Democracy, and the future of a just and peaceful Middle East.
