Juneteenth Shabbat

Friday, June 19

2:00pm to 3:00pm
via Zoom
Contact: Be'chol Leshon

Join Rabbis Sandra Lawson and Isaama Goldstein-Stoll for a special Kabbalat Shabbat service on Zoom to mark Juneteenth, a holiday commemorating the day when the enslaved people of Texas were freed, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. On June 19, 1865, in Galveston, Union General Gordon Granger read federal orders outlawing slavery in Texas. Since that time, Juneteenth (also known as Freedom Day or Jubilee Day) is celebrated annually on June 19th. 2020 marks its 155th anniversary. Event hosted by Be'chol Leshon, Keshet, and National Council of Jewish Women.

REGISTRATION IS FREE, BUT REQUIRED.

*Please note the time on the website is Eastern Time. This takes place at 2:00 pm Pacific Time.
