Dialogue Across Difference: Workshop and Conversation for Young Professionals with the JCRC

Monday, July 22

6:30pm to 8:00pm
Downtown Seattle (address provided upon RSVP)

The Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) and Jconnect are thrilled to partner to bring this opportunity to young professionals (20s-30s) in our community to engage in courageous conversations about Israel. This workshop, using Resetting the Table materials and principles, offers applicable communication skill-building for charged conversations and a forum for dialogue across disagreement. Participants will exchange views and personal experiences, surface differences and commonalities, and practice communication skills for addressing differences directly and constructively. The workshop builds community capacity to explore disagreements while strengthening relationships, trust, learning, and collaboration. In addition to the learning and skill-building of the workshop, there will be ample opportunity to explore our reflections on and relationships with Israel in this challenging time.

Resetting the Table originally launched to tackle conversations around Israel/Palestine, and later expanded to American political division. The model offered by Resetting the Table draws from Jewish principles while being grounded in sociological research and best practices in courageous conversations across differences.

Facilitator Ashley Pratt was most recently the program director for Jconnect at Hillel UW. She is a trained Resetting the Table facilitator. She received her Master of Arts in International Relations from King’s College London, where her dissertation focused on the ethics of insurgent warfare. In the fall she will begin rabbinical school at Hebrew College outside Boston, MA. Ashley loves productive conflict and experimenting with new ideas.
