Amy Koplow, Executive Director of Hebrew Free Burial Association, will come to present and chat about the process of burying those who died with honor, dignity, and love, and its centrality to Jewish tradition. Where do our funeral and burial practices come from? What do kavod ha-meit (honoring the dead) and chesed shel emet (the truest act of kindness) mean, and why are these practices so important in our tradition? We will look back at the sources for these practices and why they continue to have meaning for us today.
