7:45pm to 9:15pmLife's Big Questions is an experiential, conversational seminar for examining the major questions we encounter in our adult lives through a Jewish lens. This is a place to explore ourselves, our heritage, and some of the great ideas of Judaism. As such, we want to encourage you to use both your mind and heart — your intellect and personal experience — in this space.
The seminar will be made up of a diverse group of participants. Not everyone will have the same background. We encourage participants with a wide range of political beliefs, religious affiliations, and gender and sexual orientations. We expect all participants to be respectful of one another’s experience and try to learn from difference rather than assume sameness.
This subsidized class will cost $15. The class will meet April 6th, April 13th, and for a Shabbat dinner on the 29th. We'll start with digging into the question of "How big is your story?", a discussion of collective histories. On the 13th, we'll talk about disagreement and collaboration. During our Shabbat dinner, we'll also talk about options for interpretive Shabbat practices, read texts about Shabbat, and learn about the benefits of pausing every week.
No outside reading or homework will be required for this class.
