Sex, Love, and Relationships: a cohort-based learning series

Wednesday, January 11 to Wednesday, March 15

7:00pm to 8:30pm
Hillel UW
4745 17th Ave NE
Seattle WA 98105

Jewish thought has something to say about every topic. Join us to explore Judaism's take on sex, love, and relationships - romantic, platonic, and/or sexual. We'll dig into texts from Torah to op-eds and everything in between, reading them in relation to newer sources like Broad City and Fleabag. We'll study in a variety of ways, including chevruta (paired text study) and small group discussion. If you're already experienced with studying Jewish texts, there's always more to learn. And if you've never done text study before, join us to learn the basics, from Torah to Talmud and more!

We'll tackle questions like "is Judaism even sexy?" "What do we owe other people in a relationship?" "How do we end relationships Jewishly?"

We're looking for a variety of participants - the only thing we ask is that you bring your whole self to examine the questions we'll be discussing. Not everyone will have the same background. We encourage participants with a wide range of political beliefs, religious affiliations, and gender and sexual orientations. We expect all participants to be respectful of one another’s experience and try to learn from difference rather than assume sameness. This class is for single people and couples - we all have a wide network of relationships in our lives!

Pending any unforeseen changes in circumstances, the class is intended to meet in person at the Hillel building. Free parking is available.

The enrollment fee for this cohort-based learning series is $100. Once accepted, participants will receive further instructions on completing their registration. The registration fee should not be a barrier for entry - please reach out to ashley@hilleluw.org for financial aid options.

No outside reading or homework will be required for this class.

To join the class, please fill out this application. There are a limited number of spots available.
