MONTHLY SHABBATS
Monthly Shabbats: Every month, Jconnect hosts a re:connect Second Friday Shabbat that includes a Happy Hour, a musical Friday night service led by community song leader Josh Niehaus, an optional Torah Study (often with a visiting local rabbi or educator), and a full kosher Shabbat Dinner with wine! Jconnect’s very first re:connect Shabbat launched in the fall of 2021with 25 young adults in attendance. From then until July 2024, the program grew to a monthly average attendance of 55 young adults! The program continues to grow today!
Young adults looking to host or attend Shabbat dinners on weeks when Jconnect does not offer second Friday Shabbat programming can receive funding and support through OneTable.
HIGH HOLIDAY SERVICES AND MEALS
Hillel UW provides High Holiday Services and multiple meals for Jconnectors, undergraduate students and community members. Please check in on our calendar for all that information!
SUSHI IN THE SUKKAH
Sushi in the Sukkah in one of Jconnect’s most popular programs, providing Jconnectors an opportunity to socialize and enjoy Kosher sushi (and kosher sake!) in Hillel UW’s sukkah. This is a mainstay of our young adult Sukkot programming.
LATKEPALOOZA
Latkepalooza has long-been Jconnect’s annual signature event. A social get-together historically hosted outside of the Hillel building, Seattle’s young Jewish adults come together to eat latkes, dance, drink, and connect during Chanukah!
POUR’EM PARTY
Jconnect’s second most popular event every year is the annual Purim Party. This year, Jconnect partnered with Moishe House Seattle to create a costume Purim Cocktail Party hosted at Hillel UW. The event included Shabbat dinner, lots of drinks, costumes and fun!
PASSOVER
Each year, Jconnect has their own seder just for Jconnectors. It is a great time to eat, converse, and celebrate with one another!
SHA-BOAT SHALOM
Surrounded by so much water in the Puget Sound, it seemed only natural to organize an aquatic Shabbat experience for our Jconnect community. For the past few years, The Virginia V, an historic steamship moored in South Lake Union, gets transformed into a Jconnect Shabbat experience. Participants purchase a ticket to attend, open bar is provided for all, and a food buffet is offered.
